Article 19 of the UNCRC (United Nations Convention on the Rights of a Child):
'Children have the right to be protected from being hurt and mistreated, in body or mind.'

Article 19 addresses violence against children. It states that children and young people have a fundamental human right to dignity. They have the right to be protected from violence, just like everybody else. As well as being protected from violence, children should also be kept safe from all forms of exploitation, sexual abuse, neglect, exposure to accidents and violent images.
